11:00am EST: the march from Paseo Colon (Plaza Venezuela) to Av. Mexico has begun! Photos here and here.
From 10:47am on, they have a split screen on, in which images are transmitted from Av. Mexico; Yon Goicoechea looks like a regular superstar, greeting people, receiving hugs from people who have congregated in the area in support of "No a la Reforma." He also asked for the resignation of Minister Carre~o.
11:06am EST: zETAp drops the gloves and demands respect from all delegations present at the Cumbre HOLY CRAP, zETAp, I DIDN'T THINK YOU HAD IT IN YOU!
For the video and additional information, see Noticias24 and Globo. Love the monarchy or hate it, when a KING tells you essentially to shut up, you at least give him some respect and listen. This is the longest version I've seen, but the one posted below will have to suffice, because I can't embed this one.
Chavez, sos niche, sos maleducado, autocrata irrespetuoso... Here is zETAp's statement; Spanish foristas opine. So does El Universal. Lady Vorzheva gives her reaction, from the Spanish perspective, of the events transpired in Santiago. My friend El Cerrajero finds the hypocrisy of zETAp's statement; I know, you're all shocked that zETAp would be a hypocrite. Que sea la ultima vez." yeah, zETAp, it sucks to be disrespected by someone who negotiates with terrorists, doesn't it? (But wait, you negotiate with ETA...hmm...) Well, I'm glad you're finally starting to realize the true colors of Chavez; better late than never, right?

Dedicated to LV: Evito couldn't leave the summit without making a ridiculous statement, to nationalize basic services. He also said that within three years Bolivia would no longer be an estado mendigo. I would pose the following question: to which Bolivia is he referring? The prefects of the media luna have given an ultimatum of one week for the government in La Paz to retract their statement which details that they will reduce payments to other regions in the name of augmenting funds for Bolivia's version of social security, or they will declare autonomy.
11:07am EST: Danielito speaks, invokes freedom of speech, saying that he will not be limited to one minute
11:07am EST: Chavez responds to zETAp, says that he will respond in any way, in any tone, which he pleases
11:08am EST: Danielito gets testy with zETAp; calls Spain part of the global dictatorship, refers to Spain's involvement in Libya, bombing of Qaddafi's home, assassinating children at the will of the US
11:11am EST: says Spain has a high level of development because put protected their interests; Latin Americans can't, because they're forced to submit their interests to those of the Yankees and Europeans
11:12am EST: this Cumbre opens up the path for dialogue
11:14am EST: calls for leaving of the OAS, creating a new organization, Organizacion de Estados Iberoamericanos y Caribe~os; invites Jose Miguel Insulza to join them. Lula opposes this proposition, as taken from El Nacional at 1:08pm EST on 10 Nov 07, from the titulares section:
Internacionales
This declaration is extremely important because Brasil just found vast oil reserves.
Other topics discussed this morning, see emol.com
11:24am EST: Rosales admits that the students are the most important of the opposition; "los estudiantes representan lo mas refresco de la Patria...estan calentando al Pueblo" He calls chavismo cowardly for having sent armed groups to attack the students. More here. He also called for all sectors of the opposition to unite, in the name of the Patria.
11:28am EST: Chacao mayor Leopoldo Lopez (UNT) says the political parties are present to support the students; calls the violence a violation of citizens' rights; "No a la violencia, no a la Reforma"
11:29am EST: interview with Stalin Gonzalez, president of Federacion de Centros Universitarios (from UCV)... rejects violence throughout the country executed against the students; invites all parties to dialog and converse about the reform
11:34am EST: Ravell says he is marching civilly, as a democrat, in support of the students, exercising his rights as a civilian, not as a lackey of a foreign government or as a fascist, golpista
12:28pm EST: Freddy Guevara gives a powerful speech, saying that chavistas are Venezuelans who want a better Venezuela; in a previous statement, a new march to the TSJ was announced. He then goes on to give a caustic tongue-lashing of those malandros who bore arms at the UCV and promote violence. "Cambiamos la historia, QUE VIVA VENEZUELA!" Bien dicho, apreciado Freddy, muy bien dicho.
UPDATE: at 2:29pm EST on Globo online, Chavez is telling us what Fidel Castro is saying from a phone call, because conveniently he can't figure out how to turn up the volume on his cell phone. (It's call the volume button, you moron.) Once again, another shock: Chavez makes fun of everyone, Fidel pays homage to those who fought against tyranny in Nicaragua and Chile, Chavez calls himself El Macacon (which means that no other PC izmierdistas can say that the Bolivians at Santa Cruz were being racist in calling Chavez a macaco), and he ends the speech with "Patria, Socialismo o Muerte, venceremos!" *yawn*
UPDATE: Not surprisingly, Cuba's VP defended Chavez. The following is taken from titulares section of El Nacional at 1:12pm EST on 10 Nov 2007:
Internacionales

And Evo, well, errr, in his normal line. :(
Thanks, LV! :D
Uh humm. Well, now I've discovered how it is you
speak Spanish (I've seen
your comments on another
blog, and then on here -
ok, maybe not the hardest
of detective work, but...).
It's old news now, but the
king of Spain putting chavez
in his place thing is great!
HaHa! :) I don't speak Spanish but still watching the video
you can pretty much tell what's
going on, and I've watched it
many times now. Good for Juan Carlos!
Perhaps old news (I blogged this in real time, watching it as it was being transmitted on Globovision) but four days later, people are still going crazy over it...
